runnin runnin and runnin runnin

today I ran a half marathon.

my roommate Katie ran it with me (she is so wonderful!!)

it was so fun to have someone to run with and talk to...and stay motivated!

it was my first race and it won't be my last!!

the race we ran is called the Pocatello "Just Cuz" half marathon

it was kind of crazy town.

it is like a fun-run for all of the hard core runners

so for them, it was a party. In fact, at mile 11 there is "temptation table" where they have hostess snacks, candy and...alcohol. 

no joke. 

we got there and they were like, "do you want a shot of Jack Daniel's?" I wanted to be like, 

"are you kidding me? do you see my sweater? I'm a BYU-Idaho DAD!!!" haha

but I just politely declined, grabbed a couple red vines and was on my way again

it was great.

and boy do I feel great!

suddenly, i love running.

p.s. shout out to my awesome aunt and uncle who let us spend the night at their house the night before!! Yay for family! :)

i missed it.

I recently took pictures these two girls. 
On the left, is Baily. She was my mission companion. (i love her) 
On the right, is Megan, Bailey's friend. (and mine too)


Can I just say how much I LOVED doing this photo shoot?
It was super short but so great! It made me excited for photography again. I've been feeling pretty rusty after a year and a half of not picking up my camera. And to be honest, a little hesitant too.
But, while I was taking their photos and editing them...I couldn't stop smiling! It made me so happy.
It was partially because these two are so stinkin cute and funny but also because now I remember.
I remember now...that I love taking pictures.
It's so fun. 
It's my favorite thing.

I missed it.

Basically, thank you Bailey and Megan for reminding me of my love for photography and
I would just like to let everyone know...
I'm back!  :)

zombie boy

welcome to my saturday night.

Alex called me up randomly and said, "what are you doing right now?"
nothing. duh.

so, here you have the trial run for his "zombie boy" costume.
this was my first time painting someone's face...and it was a blast!
so naturally we went to Broulim's afterwards just to show off!

i'm considering a career change.

don't worry. Halloween he is going to look crazy.

I go to BYU-Idaho and I love it!

But from time to time, other people don't share my enthusiasm.
For example, here you can read the opinion of this blessed soul.

This article was in our school newspaper the Scroll last week. He is a student.
Maybe he was being sarcastic?
Either way...it is highly offensive.
But the only reason I am blogging about this is beause of one of the responses that was printed this week.
It was written by Jedi, who happens to be in my New Testament class.
This makes me laugh so hard! :) 
Perhaps we aren't the smartest kids in the world...but at least we are DANG funny! hahaha

So thank you Jedi for making my day.

my blog has been a little neglected in the past 18 months...but i'm ready to be a real person again :)

sometimes i think about the clothes that i wear...and then i look at other girls' clothes...and i wonder how i got to be the way that i am.

i'm not really sure.

it's like i'm a 7 year-old boy/girl.
but i kinda like it.

for example, is it weird that i think these lego earrings are the best? i saw them yesterday....and i want them. they even had dinosaur ones. awesome!

 so...i don't normally think of myself as very emotionally patriotic all the time. i mean, i'm the normal kind of patriotic. i love my country. But, something about being out of the country for the past 18 months has made me very 
grateful for America

and seeing this today was pretty darn special.

welp

i'm back from my mission.
is that weird?

anyway, here i am.
i am sure that i will tell alllll about my mission bit by bit...
but essentially i had the time of my life.
i loved it. A LOT.














basically everytime i try to truly describe how i feel about my mission...all i can do is cry.
it's pathetic.
but i just can't find the words!
it has meant the world to me to serve the Lord
it made me so happy
even more than usual :)

i loved everything about it.
for a year and a half i got to dedicate every living moment to my Heavenly Father and to Jesus Christ
i served Him by serving His children....
and helping them find salvation
it amazes me that He lets us do something SO important.
i've been humbled and i feel so grateful.

and man am i going to miss it!! i already do.

let me also say, that i know my mission was a lot bigger than just those 18 months. it is only the beginning of a lot more. and the mission helps to prepare me for that "more" that will come in my life. the experiences i had will continue to influence my decisions.
not to mention, there is more to come in the lives of the people that i worked with, taught and helped.

and, this isn't the end to my service to the Lord. i still have everyday for the rest of my life for that :)

but i thought i would give a small summary of what i learned....
like, really small.

1. the Atonement is real.
2. God loves His children.
3. i can't live without the priesthood in my life
4. planning is essential
5. obedience. obedience. obedience.

part of me feels silly putting the millions of things i learned into just a few bullet points....but that really about sums it up.
and truly....no words can do it justice.


what i'm trying to say is,

i loved my mission
i love the Lord
the Church is true


and life is good.
