Easter Egg Flowers

I get so excited about holidays! And I love Easter!
It ushers in good weather and beautiful blooms!
This is my latest Easter craft. I got the idea from a cute blog that I follow. It is so easy and adds some fun and a pop of color to the table.

If you have a ceramic egg holder, you can use that and I'm sure it would look lovely! I don't have one (and don't want to buy one) so I just used a regular old egg carton! I happened to have one of the bulk egg cartons. I cut the egg carton up so it would fit a dozen eggs and then I spray painted it with some paint I had leftover from another project.

Then while the paint is drying, you can find an excuse to make a bunch of eggs! :) Just make sure that when you crack the egg you only leave the top open. Rinse out the shell and remove the plastic membrane stuff.
Add water inside and arrange flowers in each egg. I chose peonies but you can use any flower you like!

This made a fun addition to our little kitchen. Love it!

Happy Spring everyone!!!

mononucleosis

So we have been in wedded bliss for the last 9 months…except for how sick we have been!

It seriously has been one sickness after another for both of us since about a week after we got married. Pretty crazy.

The most recent culprit has been mono. In fact, mono might be the cause of all the sicknesses we've had. That’s right people…The Kissing Disease. I’m just not sure why it decided to kick in now.

Anyway, we went to Las Vegas for Christmas and I got sick there…I took like a 5 hour nap one day and was still tired. But I thought it was just a one time thing.

Fast forward about a week to the day before I am supposed to start my new job…I am feeling the sickest I have ever felt in my life.

It was a Sunday and I only made it 5 minutes into church before I was crying because I was so tired. I couldn’t even sit up!

Long story short, I missed my whole first week of work and felt tired for the weeks following.

Now it is April….and I still feel it. Over THREE months later...and there’s no end in sight, folks.

This asian baby demonstrates pretty well how I feel most of the time.

 :)
ok, also I added that because I think it’s cute.

Anyway, through it all I’m just glad I have a husband that is understanding and does so much for me.

After all, life just has to go on!

Meanwhile

Since last time I posted…. A LOT has happened!

Matt and I got married

( i had to make that huge...it is kind of a big deal!)

we went on an awesome honeymoon to cabo san lucas

we quit our summer jobs and moved to rexburg

we lived in a hotel

our first apartment was previously a hotel...which means what you see in this picture, was basically our whole apartment. we "joked" that our first 5 months of marriage were spent in a hotel

we camped in Yellowstone

this was one of Matt's requirements for living in Idaho!
Matt was in heaven seeing the animals and i was loving taking photos

we went on a Ross family trip to Tampa
i of course can't get enough of my little sobrinos!!! this is Parker...looking confused if these alligators should be fun or scary :)

Matt fished a lot
this was definitely Matt's favorite part about our few months in Rexburg.
sorry about the closed eyes...it's a struggle!

I was Area Director for Life Skills
Life Skills is part of BYU-Idaho's activities department
This photo is from our wilderness survival workshop!

I graduated
(also a big deal)

I got braces
We'll all just pretend that I pull this off nicely.

After our adventures in Rexburg we spent Christmas in Las Vegas and then moved back to Utah.

Now, we are living in Orem and loving having our own place that has an oven AND more than one room! What a luxury :)
We are close to family and friends and totally loving being here!

It's nice to be settled somewhere after so many years of feeling transient. We will be here while Matt is finishing school and I am working.

So that's the summary!

We are loving married life!

Back from the Dead

Oh...hey.

I know I always do this. You should see my journal. I can never be consistent. But...here's to second chances! (or 59372th chances)

So what I'm trying to say is...I'm back to blogging!

Except my name has changed since the last time I was on this thing :) I'll have to update that!

Happy Wednesday!

Seriously?

Has it really been since December since I posted on this thing?

ok...I really shouldn't act surprised...because I'm not. Life has been crazy.
Let me tell you why I haven't been posting on here...

First of all, this last semester was the craziest/busiest/hardest/most life changing semester I have ever had. Which probably means it would have been a really entertaining time to blog! haha!
I was taking 16 credits of challenging upper-level classes and had a part time job. Those things alone would have been enough to keep me busy! But add a boyfriend in the mix and I was a VERY distracted Casey.
We spent every weekend driving between Idaho and Utah to see each other. The honest truth is that I loved it. It was so exciting and so much fun. I would go to Provo and crash on the couch of my most favorite cousin Lisa :) double bonus!! Plus, it was exciting to fall in love with Matt. It's the best thing that has ever happened to me.
But even with as much fun as it was...I'm so so so glad that it's over!!
Now I get to just be here (in Provo that is) with my cute fiance.
Isn't that nice?
I am loving it!!

No more weekends of 8 hours on the road. No more lonnnnng weeks of being far away. No more nightly phone calls. No no no.
Instead, we live literally two minutes away from each other, work for the same company and see each other everyday!
Life is so great :)

What I'm trying to say is that maybe now that balance has been brought back into my life...I'll find more time to blog...and function like a normal human being.

We know it. We live it. We love it.

Have you ever been to mormon.org?
Or maybe you've seen some Mormon Messages on YouTube?
If not, click on the links and check it out!

Well, my stake at BYU-Idaho is starting their very own campaign to spread the gospel through the internet :) and I have the privelege of giving this project a little kick start!
It is going to be amazing.
So far, I've been able to meet with a few students to hear their testimonies and take videos of them.
It is so fun! Just look at how cute they are!! Honestly, everytime I have met with them, it has made me SO incredibly happy. I loving hearing my peers' stories and testimonies!
It makes me happy to hear them talk about their belief in Jesus Christ.
After only a few minutes with each one of them, I felt like I knew them and already loved them so much.
I know, I know...you are probably pretty jealous of this cool assignment I have! And for good reason!
What a blessing.
You can watch their stories here.

me time

Ya know...it just doesn't happen very often that photos are taken of ME. It's probably good for me. It reminds me of how totally awkward it is to be the one in front of the camera and not hiding behind it! Anyway, my good friend and mission companion, Bailey took photos of me this past week. We had so much fun doing it! Even though it was soooo cold and Bailey's fingers froze :) It was in preperation for my new website! I'm so excited for it to be ready! But as for right now...I have a lot to learn about CSS, HTML, PHP, XHOSA (ok just kidding on the last one) but for real, making websites is learning a new language.
I'm sure I'll get the hang of it.

PowerPoint Power

I've been studying a book called slide:ology this semester.
Ever heard of it? Well it is by Nancy Duarte. She is powerful.
I've also learned A LOT about PowerPoint in the process. Actually, I have learned that I love it!
But it must be used with great care.
I probably sound so silly to you. But I honestly am so passionate about PowerPoint right now! It's the best! My Professional Presentations class has taught me so much. It has been an adventure. And, on Thursday, I give my very last presentation! Yay! And it just happens to be about cognitive overload in slide design. I bet you are just dying to see it...huh? :)

If you want to watch Duarte's TED talk...here it is! It just might change your life.
